iPad 2 Review - The future is Now!
Finally, the Apple iPad 2 review. The name iPad is an awesome word -- more than a product -- it's a statement and an idea. Sleek design. Gorgeous, sharp, accurate touch screen. Improved iPod, Safari browser, photo and e-mail apps. iBooks look awesome and titles are easy to purchase and download. A great variety of downloadable apps. The iPad is all about its screen, and Apple's 9.7-inch LED backlit IPS display does not disappoint. Colors on the screen are vibrant and saturated, while the blacks feel deeper than ever before. The iPad 2 has a large LED backlit multi- touch display is 9.7in and the pixel resolution is 1024x768.The simple act of making the multitouch screen bigger changes the whole experience. Maps become real maps, like the paper ones. Scrabble shows the whole board, without your having to zoom in and out. You see your e-mail inbox and the open message simultaneously. Driving simulators fill more of your field of view, closer to a windshield than a keyhole. There are 12 preloaded apps on the iPad: Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Maps, Videos, YouTube, iTunes, App Store, Safari, Mail, Photos, and iPod. Maps is particularly useful and entertaining.
I love Apple's new e-reader application, iBooks. The virtual bookshelf, on which your digital tomes sit, is an example of Apple design at its best; elegant, simple, well-executed. The reading experience itself was also delightful, with the pages of the virtual books having the sort of patina you would expect to find on a printed novel. Turning pages is achieved with a taping of the fingers, or a single tap in the right-hand margins.
In this iPad 2 review we can’t really talk about the price because it’s not out yet. The price of this device is considered to be modest especially for its capabilities, because ultimately it is about the software. This device is not about the hardware features and build; it is about the software and user interface.
